MSOI Proposed Excursion 2020

Medal Society of Ireland Proposed Trip 2020

Members of the Medal Society of Ireland should have received an email regarding the proposed trip for 2020.

Venue - Ross Castle, County Meath, Ireland

Date - Saturday 26th September 2020 & Sunday 27th September 2020 (with possible addition of Friday 25th)

Here's a wonderful and unique opportunity for members of the MSOI and their partners/friends to experience living, sleeping and socialising in a wonderfully restored Irish Castle (a 15th century Tower House) on the shores of beautiful Lough Sheelin.  Ross Castle is located on the borders of Co. Cavan and Co. Meath. It is ideally situated to not just provide an authentic castle living experience, but also within the locality many historical attractions are within easy reach. Making the Castle the base of our operations, we plan to visit Cavan County Museum on Saturday 26th September, other events/talks/fishing etc are still being planned.

We have negotiated an overall MSOI group rate of €1000 per night. The main castle building and associated extension will cater for 7 couples/14 people.  Assuming we have 14 people the cost per person per night will be less than €72. A 3 Course dinner plus tea/coffee will cost an additional €35 per person.  We will also have exclusive use of the catering/kitchen facilities so you will be invited to bring your own favourite snacks and drinks ! (BYOB).
This is a very attractive price, giving our Society full and exclusive ownership of the building and making us kings of the castle - at least for the weekend!
